Gerd’s Shop Notes

Some years ago a large old maple tree was cut down at my wife’s parents house. We ended up with most of the wood to use as firewood. When I started woodturning, I naturally turned to this pile for practice wood, and found some of the most beautiful turning wood imaginable. Some curly pieces, some quilting, some spalting. It pains me to think how much of this gorgeous wood I burned in the fireplace before I knew of it’s value!
